Have the perfect engagement ring? It's time to start thinking about a wedding band that will go well with your engagement ring, but also stand out on its own.

How you'll wear your wedding ring

When packing for a trip or other adventure, keep in mind that you may want to wear your wedding band on its own. In this case, it is important to check that the wedding band looks good all by itself. When designing their perfect engagement ring and wedding band set, some customers fail to consider how the wedding band will look when worn alone.

Consider Your Lifestyle

Many people wonder if diamonds are necessary or if they should go for something simpler. If you can, try out both options and be objective about the results. Consider your occupation and way of life. If you are always on the go, work with your hands, or travel frequently, you may prefer a band that doesn't require frequent cleaning or worry about losing the ring. Something understated and devoid of diamonds can be both classic and functional.

Overall Aesthetic

An option is to have the engagement ring and wedding band complement one another visually. Alternatively, you can go in the opposite direction to introduce some contrast. Your engagement ring can be improved by incorporating an innovative design element, such as milgrain or a variety of diamond shapes.

Consider the Height of Your Center Stone Basket

If your engagement ring is straight, then a straight wedding band will fit flush against it. A standard wedding band will create a gap between your finger and the basket holding your center stone if your basket is low to the finger (see left example below). Some clients like this gap, but for others, this drives them absolutely insane. For those who identify with the second group, we suggest a curved band. Both straight and curved bands are viable options if your center stone basket is elevated.

Mixing Metals

Do you prefer consistency when it comes to metals, or are you open to experimentation? While those with a more traditional taste tend to stick with the same metal, we've discovered that mixing and matching is a lot of fun for everyone else.   A mixed wedding set is a great option if, in addition to your engagement ring and wedding band, you wear rings made of different metals.

Stacking

Adding new bands to a wedding set is a popular way to celebrate milestones like anniversaries and new additions to the family. When trying on wedding bands, keep in mind that you may want to wear them stacked down the road. You'll probably find more than one lovely pairing.

Verdict

Make your wedding band as unique as you are! Pick a design that works well with your engagement ring and expresses your sense of style. No wedding ring should be boring.
